What I Believe

As a disciple of Jesus Christ, following are the convictions I hold to.  I believe everything contained in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Bible are the Word of God. I believe every word of the Bible is true. I believe that the Word is alive and active. The Word of God is the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice.

I believe in the Triune God.  There is one and only one living and true God, constituting a trinity in unity,  the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, which are equal in power and glory. The one true God, subsisting in three persons created heaven and earth and everything in the universe. He is sovereign, omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent.

I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of the world.  Through Jesus' life, his death on the cross and his resurrection, an atonement was made for sin and redemption was provided for all mankind.

I have accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, not by my works but through faith and by grace given to me by the one true God.  I have repented of my sin. I believe Jesus Christ is The Way, The Truth and The Life. Jesus Christ is the only way a person can inherit eternal life. No one can get to the Father in Heaven accept through his Son Jesus Christ.

When I believed in my heart that Jesus is Lord and professed it with my mouth I was saved and sealed with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit regenerates the soul of the believer and brings men and women into saved relations with God.  The Holy Spirit is the Comforter and Guide of all who receive Jesus Christ as a personal Savior.

I believe the Apostles' Creed embodies the fundamental facts of the Christian faith.

The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and  buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

I am a member of Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, Illinois. Below I have copied a link to our statement of beliefs  http://www.willowcreek.org/aboutwillow/what-willow-believes
